Anne Sipos

I make art to understand more about God and to have a vessel to help others understand more about God and how He is a part of everyday life.

The process of creating cast metal art reveals profound truth about how God sees people, and what it is like to live life in obedience to what He has in store for the lives of people.

Something I love about the pouring part of the cast metal process is the chance to greater understand and reflect on the analogy in Scripture that we are tested, refined, and purified by fire in a furnace, just like metal.

When the metal is melting in the fiery furnace, all the impurities float to the top, and are removed by the artist. This is like God with people.

When the metal is at the proper temperature to be cast, the top of the pot is reflective enough that if you could safely get close enough, the artist could see their face in the reflection of the pure metal. This is like God with people.

Once the metal is poured into the mold the artist made, the metal is molded into something new, something even more beautiful. The artist is unbelievably excited to break the mold open to see the intended result. This is like God with people.

Each pour, I learn something new that makes this metaphor even richer, and it is truly one of my favorite aspects of being a sculptor.

God is the ultimate Creator, and He loved creating so much that He lets us take part in the joy of creating too. To reflect this, I make it my goal to invite others into creating and into vulnerable conversation through the community that is required in iron casting. As you look at my work, may you have a space to contemplate and seek Truth in the presence of the community that art and metal casting creates.

01.

God and His Word.

This can be a hard topic for people, but it is where I believe the source of life comes from. Conversations around God and beliefs are a driving force for Sipos's work.

02.

People.

There are so many stories to be told, and I love taking any chance to help tell the stories of those around me who I care for dearly.

03.

Personal experiences.

Life happens and it's hard and beautiful. And sometimes the only way for me to make sense of the emotions is through creating.
